Inclusive Museum: working with and for people with disabilities

The project focused on working with and for people who are blind/visually and autistic people, to make the Hunt Museum more accessible and inclusive. The project ran from December 2023 to October 2024. It was funded by Rethink Ireland’s ‘Disability Awareness & Participation Fund’.

All engagement approaches used during the Inclusive Museum project followed the social model for disability. It recognises and values participant abilities and strengths, rather than focusing on limitations due to disability. In this way, participants were empowered to play an active role in bringing about social change in the Museum.

The following pages provide a comprehensive overview of the project, including the results that were achieved.
