Sharing knowledge beyond the Hunt Museum

Who are the digital resources for?

Many of the barriers to access and inclusion identified by working group members at the Hunt Museum are common to other museums, galleries and cultural heritage sites across Ireland. For this reason, the intended audience for these digital learning resources is staff working at all levels in these contexts.

About the resources

Two collections of video based digital resources are provided. The first, was co-created with members of the Visually Impaired Working Group and Front of House staff at the Hunt Museum. There are four videos in this collection.

The second collection was co-created with members of the Autistic Persons Working Group and staff from different Hunt Museum departments. There are six videos in this collection.

Takeaway cards are provided at the end of every video to highlight the main points of learning and possible actions that can be taken to increase access and inclusion for these groups.

It is important to emphasise that working group member experiences and perspectives expressed in these videos are THEIR experiences, and do not represent those of every autistic or visually impaired person.

How were they produced?

Hunt Museum staff from different departments produced a list of questions which were used to direct discussion between them and working group members. These discussions were documented in video and the footage was edited for use in the digital resources.

Other thoughts on these resources

Co-production of these videos with members provided informal yet highly impactful training opportunities for Hunt Museum staff while also re-enforcing understanding that access and inclusion needs to be a whole team effort.

These videos also convey the lived experience and perspectives of our working group members, enabling them to advocate for more equitable access and inclusion beyond the Hunt Museum.
