Planning the project’s social impact

Five social impact goals with related outputs were identified in conjunction with Rethink Ireland.

These were:

  1. To provide training in 3D object digitisation and 3D printing to 10 autistic young people enabling them to harness their passion for technology while building their confidence and producing 3D printed object replicas to support multisensory learning in the Museum
  2. To provide six months of paid employment for an autistic person
  3. To establish and run two expert working groups who would lead change in the Museum
    • An Autistic Persons Working Group ( with minimum of six members)
    • A Blind/Visually Impaired Persons Working Group (with minimum of six members)
    • Members were required to harness their lived experience of disability to identify barriers to access and inclusion at the Museum while also co-designing solutions or accommodations to mitigate these.
  4. To deliver five physical changes to the museum building making it more inclusive and accessible for autistic people and persons who are blind/visually impaired.
  5. To co-develop digital learning resources for the cultural heritage sector sharing their lived experience of disability and providing guidance on how museums can become more inclusive and accessible
